Child Education Component of the Family Literacy Project (Even Start)

The Child Education Component will provide high quality developmental experiences for children birth through five years old whose parents are participants in the Family Literacy Project. Increases in children’s cognitive, language, social, and motor skills will occur. Parents will further their child’s literacy development by reading to them on a regular basis. An increase in parents’ knowledge of child development, child rearing, and increased competence in partnering with early childhood educators and other professionals will occur. Two staff positions will be fully supported with Smart Start funds. The other positions will be paid by other funds (i.e. Even Start).
